How
did you hear about Home of the Giants and how did you get involved in the film
?
We read it in the newspaper. It said, "locally produced
movie needs extras" so we went.
What exactly did you all have
to do ? On our first day of shooting at UNCG we had to do a scene were
Matt Morrison (Ryan Merriman) is out of the game and the fans want him put in
the game. We had to chant We want Matt for about 6 hours. Later that
day we shot some basketball scenes. On our second day at UNCG we shot more basketball
scenes and various crowd scenes. The second weekend we were at the LJVM coliseum
in Winston Salem. These days we got to hang out with the stars a little
bit more. We did a lot more basketball scenes and we had to do one scene in which
the crowd rushes the court. In this scene we were right beside Haley and Danielle.
This scene was really fun but it was very hot because the air conditioning made
too much noise and it couldnt be left on during shooting. Was it
difficult filming ? Tell me more about your filming experience. The
hardest thing for us was pantomiming, where you do a scene without making any
noise. Another thing that was difficult for us was not looking in the camera.
A basketball player told us that not looking in the camera was like not pushing
the big red flashing button.

Did you get to work directly with Haley,
Ryan and Danielle ? What was the experience like ?
Yes we got to work directly with them a few times. In UNCG we
got to sit right behind Ryan and the rest of the team. It was a lot of fun because
between takes we could talk to them. We also got to play basketball with them
when they were setting up the next scenes to shoot. At the LJVM coliseum we got
to stand with Haley and Danielle in the rushing the court scene. We were put right
beside them. It was a really good experience to be right near all of the stars. What
are your impressions about Haley, Ryan and Danielle in real life ? Were they nice
?
They were all so nice and fun to be around. Ryan always
danced and sang and sometimes he got the whole crowd
into it.
So , was Ryan a good singer
?
He did more rapping then
singing but he wasn't the best but not the worst we've
heard.
How about Haley? What did he
look like up close ?
Haley looks the same as when he
was a little boy just more grown up. He was very short.
It was funny because we were all taller than him!
At which locations
did filming actually take place for you ?
Our first weekend we filmed at UNCG in Greensboro.
The second weekend was filmed at the LJVM coliseum in
Winston-Salem.
What did you get for appearing
as extras in the film ?
We got free food! And they were
giving away things like signed movies, money, ipods,
and things like that. I ( Kim Comito ) won a "Empire
Falls" signed dvd by Danielle which I thought was
really cool that I won.
Are
there any special incidences that happen which are most memorable for you ? The
whole experience is something that we will always remember. Just getting to talk
and hang out with the stars was the best part. We will always remember this because
it was the first movie that we were in and hopefully not the last. We would love
to go to the premiere and see Haley, Danielle, Ryan, and Kay again.
