CHICAGO,
July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On Thursday evening July 12th at the Landmark Theatres
in Chicago, Resolution Digital Studios (RDS) held a private screening of Home
of the Giants, a new film starring Haley Joel Osment and Ryan Merriman. With the
two actors and their families in attendance for the screening as well as the after
party at Resolution Digital Studios' Chicago complex, the event was a celebration
of the independent film project which had been two years in the making. Written
and directed by Rusty Gorman, and produced and edited by Dan Schalk the film is
a coming-of-age story told through the eyes of "Gar" (Haley Joel Osment).
Gar is a high school journalist who covers his school's basketball team as it
heads toward a state championship. Gar's best friend, Matt (Ryan Merriman), is
the team's star. When Matt persuades Gar to take part in a robbery, things don't
go as planned and Gar faces a desperate predicament with the state title and Matt's
future on the line. Resolution Digital
Studios first became involved with the project approximately 18 months ago at
a time when the filmmakers had reached a production impasse and were seeking resources
to complete the movie. Michael Huxley, the Head of Motion Picture Development
at RDS embraced the film. Huxley's passion for the story facilitated aspects of
the films' production which included a "Giants" trailer cut by RDS editor
Dustin Foster specifically to urge investors to provide financial support to the
picture. RDS's involvement had a direct impact on rejuvenating the project. As
a result, the project found momentum which secured the movie's completion and
earned Huxley an Associate Producer credit on the film. Through
the positive affiliation that was forged between RDS and Giants' filmmakers, Gorman
and Schalk, the team is now developing a slate of original productions and motion
pictures. RDS's newest project is titled GANGS NORTH which is being produced and
directed by Huxley, and written by Gorman. Gangs North is an RDS original feature
documentary about a specialized Gangs Unit in Chicago created by Mayor Richard
M. Daley in the late 70's to combat gang violence that had escalated to epidemic
proportions. While a distribution deal
for Home of the Giants is currently being negotiated, preproduction of Gangs North
is underway and signifies another decided step that Resolution has taken toward
bringing film and production to Chicago. About
